Villager killed in crossfire in J&K

A villager was killed on Thursday in cross-firing between militants and the police in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, official sources said.

During a gunfight between militants and police in Neela-Doke area in the district, a civilian was critically injured, they said, adding he succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

The victim has been identified as Mohmmad Lateef, a resident of Kandi.

However, the militants managed to flee from the spot, the sources said, adding that army along with police has launched search operations to nab the militants.

Meanwhile, security forces busted a militant hideout in Samot and recovered one chinese pistol, two magazines, four AK magazines, 20 pistol rounds, 87 AK rounds and some ration early on Thursday.
