18 passengers reach Mumbai

Some of the passengers of the Mumbai-bound Northwest Airlines flight who were stranded at the Amsterdam airport on Wednesday following a security alarm, reached Mumbai on Thursday night.

Though the airline has not yet officially confirmed the number, a passenger told PTI that 18 of those stranded had arrived from Amsterdam via Singapore.

The Northwest Airlines of the US had cancelled its Mumbai-bound flight No. 42 yesterday after it returned to Amsterdam's Schiphol airport shortly after take off following a security alarm.

The flight with 149 passengers on board was escorted back by Dutch F-16 fighter planes after a few passengers "displayed behaviour of concern".
