The Congress in Goa on Thursday said more resignations are expected from the Bharatiya Janata Party camp.

BJP member of Legislative Assembly Digambar Kamat's quit his assembly seat on Thursday.

The Congress claimed that the result of the confidence vote to be taken up on February 28 is as 'clear as day'. "There is no doubt we will win," state Congress Committee President Luisinho Faleiro said.

Kamat, a one-time Congressman, handed over his resignation to Legislature Secretary Sudhir Narvekar, reducing the BJP's strength in the 35-member house to 17. The Congress-led alliance is comfortably placed with 18 members.

Kamat resigned despite BJP state chief Rajendra Arlekar and former chief minister Parrikar requesting him on Wednesday to reconsider his decision.

The BJP admitted Kamat's resignation was a setback but claimed it was still confident of defeating the Congress-led government in the confidence vote.

Governor S C Jamir had installed Rane as CM on February 2 after he dismissed the Parrikar government amidst controversy.
