Junior research fellows

The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer and the Tata Memorial Hospital, which are affiliated to the University of Mumbai for PhD programmes, are engaged in research on different aspects of cancer biology including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metastasis, tumour immunology, immunotherapy, virology, chemotherapy, chemical carcinogenesis, tobacco carcinogenesis, gene therapy in animal models, tumour markers and global profiling of tumour tissue using proteomics and genomics, microbiology, biochemistry and medical physics.

Applications are invited in the prescribed format for Junior research fellowships.

Qualifications
MSc in Applied Biology/ Zoology/ Biophysics/ Life sciences/ Molecular biology/  Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology or MBBS / MVSc / M Pharm with not less than 55 per cent aggregate marks from a recognised university.

Stipend: Rs 8,000 per month + HRA as applicable.

Candidates who have appeared for their MSc/MBBS/ M Pharm final in 2003 and those appearing in 2004 may only apply.

Hostel facilities are available on a first come first serve basis at the ACTREC campus.

An 'objective type' written examination will be held on Sunday, July 25, at 10.00 am at Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Technology, Opp Kharghar Station, Sector No 7, Belpada, CBD, Navi Mumbai -- 400 614. The names of candidates selected for the written test will be announced on the ACTREC Web site. Candidates qualifying in the written examination will be interviewed from Tuesday, July 27 at the centre.

Information regarding areas of work at ACTREC and TMH and the projects that are available to JRFs in the current academic year are on our Web site or can be obtained from the address given below either in person or by sending self-addressed envelope (26 cm x 19 cm) affixed with postal stamps worth Rs10. Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the Web site www.actrec.res.in

Applications complete in all respects, together with a demand draft for Rs150 drawn in favour of TMCACTREC (No fee in case of SC/ST/OBC), should reach the centre by June 30.

In case of receipt of large number of applications, the centre reserves the right to increase the eligibility requirements to a higher percentage or qualifications.
