The Karnataka police have put in place a massive security cover along the route of the train in which former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti is travelling to Hubli to surrender in a court in connection with a criminal case.

Police pickets have been posted right from Belgaum as the train enters the state from Miraj early Wednesday.

It will pass through Raibag, Londa, Arwar and Dharwad before reaching Hubli.

Bharti, who resigned following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant in connection with a rioting case filed against her in 1994, is travelling by the Hazrat Nizamuddin-Goa Express.

Karnataka Additional Director General of Police Subhash Bharani, who left Bangalore for Hubli to oversee the security arrangements, declined to divulge the number of police personnel posted on duty, saying, "It is a secret."
