Fake stamp paper racket: Six Pune cops suspended

Six Pune police officials, including an inspector, have been suspended on charges of giving special treatment to the four accused arrested in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, police said on Friday. The suspended inspector is D T Kharche.

The four accused who were allegedly given special treatment in the court on Thursday include Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote, suspended Assistant Police Inspector (Crime Branch, Mumbai) Dilip Kamath, Rashid Kulkarni, who is the lawyer of prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi, and Abdul Aziz Telgi. They have been charged with stringent sections of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Police Commissioner A N Roy issued the suspension orders late on Thursday night. He has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
