An all-party meeting on Monday rejected the Election Commission move to implement the Supreme Court directive asking candidates to disclose their antecedents, instead asking the government to bring out a comprehensive legislation to 'curb criminalisation of politics' and 'bring in probity in public life'.
Are the politicians correct, or is this just an attempt to ensure that `tainted' candidates are not debarred?

their life in danger ( on Dec 13), they started calling that an attack on nation.
Bloody minister, even a single innocent death is attack on nation. You owe your
life for every single countryman. And yet you refuse to declare your assets
and criminal records. Look at your job requirement of a minister: no
qualifications needed, criminal background is great achievement and corruption is biggest credit. Now look at a peon's job requirement: must be educated, before job a criminal verification will be done by police. Why two laws in this
country, one for politician and one for others? This is highly unethical.
Politician are opportunists, corrupt, and the biggest terrorists in India.

Please make these politician understand that if you people do not listen the

their deeds. Please make them clear that if the country is rich, every body is
rich rather than if the prime minister is rich then it is not necessary that
everybody is rich. These politician trying their best to get something in the
cabinet so that they can make their and their dependents life comfortable and
not bothered for the country people who are poor and becoming poorer day by day.
If media can play a positive role by keeping their deeds open to the public, it
will be great task for the country but unfortunately, media also sees their own
benefits in terms of getting more coverage, ads etc. Hopefully, may god bless my
country with good politician with excellent thinking for excellent environment
for each and every person living in this country. Law should be one for all
country people irrespective of caste, religion, etc. rather we should remove the
words like caste, religion from our names as it does not give us any benefits.
All information sought anywhere by any institution should remove the columns so
that everybody should be known by their work not by their caste, religion, etc.

I would like to say that these politician should be booked under the POTO, because they attempt to disintegrate the sovereignty and democracy of our nation and further showed contempt for the directive of the supreme court. Those in this govt., and those in opposition should resigned from their respective posts, because they have no morals. Ram Jethmalani was kicked out of the law ministry, because he questioned the power and the legality of the supreme court in some matters. in this case the politician should come forward to accept the verdict of the supreme court and cooperate.

These political parties have only one agenda in there mind " How they can rule

will become powerless in front of administrative officers. They will not be
obliged by govt. departments. More over they will become more answerable to
public. It's very disheartening that whole parliament session goes in vain just for a reason or another. Some useful bills are waiting for approval since many
years. But the so called upcoming bill has got its draft with in one week. This
will be passed by parliament with in one or two days. So my view is there should
not be any confusion that law makers can not be above law. They have to honour
the law. We as Indians have to learn the facts of these political parties.

Moreover such a proposal should not be put up for acceptance, but should be the foremost criteria for serving in public life. If there are justifying reasons not to disclose one's antecedents, then why have an annual excercise of filing tax returns for law abiding citizens. The similar explanation should be extended to citizens also. criminals, they are the people who lead the society to criminalisation. The
unanimous rejection shows how low these people have gone who call themselves

Another aspect of filing false cases against innocent persons needs to be
addressed too. If a case is found to be filed out of political vendetta and the
charges are not proved then it should fine or punish the petitioner. Also the
media needs to publicise the earlier convictions of a contestant in an election.
If any person has been convicted by any court then he should never be allowed to
contest any election in his entire life. If a politician is found guilty in any
case he should be hanged to death for even a minor offence as he is supposed to
lead by example.

house, throwing paper weight at each other, not letting the session do its
normal business is what they do if they don't like something the ruling party
does. Well, I don't say ruling party is good. They had done all these when they
were in opposition. They don't have any respect left for the parliament. They go
out to news channels' studios to give their opinions after having blocked the
proceedings in the house. If our freedom fighters are still around, they will
repent for the freedom fight they did. They struggled so much to get the freedom
and these politicians are now FREE to loot the country. GOD SAVE MY INDIA.

left at the politics. The educated and pure leaders are always pushed back by
corrupt politics n corrupt leaders, thats why no party had supported T.N.Seshan
for Presidency Election. The game is all about hook n crook so hookers n
crookers cant be barred.

bad guys into politics. In doing so, they are serving their interests and the
nation is badly affected due to this. We should implement Supreme courts
decision.

taking money for elections they can do so passing another law and collect
officially and this should be allowed. But they should be made accountable for
everything they do just as they ask private sector ceo's to do.

Views:Most certainly the politicians are NOT correct, and it is only an
ill-disguised attempt to protect/perpetuate criminalisation of politics. It is
positively shameful that the only thing that unites all politicians in
Parliament is the opportunity to fleece the people (witness the unanimity with
which hike in MP's fees was approved in the past, barring one dissentor) and the
opportunity to cheat and hoodwink people, witness the unanimous and extreme
reluctance to be transparent and accountable to the voter. They forget that you
cannot fool ALL the people ALL the time; we are laughing at their disgusting
shenanigans, but the writing is on the wall. Sooner or later people will be fed
up enough to take hard decisions themsleves. Then woe betide the corrupt and
dishonest. These so-called leaders of people should be setting examples of
compliance and honouring the Highest Court's directives, instead they are trying
to frame new laws to wriggle out. SHAME SHAME How will the ordinary citizen ever
be law-abiding when this is the sordid state of affairs in the country ? Is the
future President of India listening?

70% of them disqualified. Not many have the knack of ruling from prisons like

corrucpt that they even take cut on the purchase of Coffins. They are all pals.
They only have to change the alliance to become touchable or untouchable -
example is Jayalalitha. U are shouted down as corrupt and the Parliament comes
to standstill because of the man is in the power. Then u join him to form the
govt. All the people becomes Fools. Raj

Views:I feel are far from being above the law, politicians should
themselves be law abiding citizens and set an example for the people that they
represent. A person who has a criminal record displays a criminal mentality and
a crooked bent of mind.Putting scuh a person in a high position would lead to
the deterioration of the entire system.Ultimately there is nothing which
prevents him from carrying out his criminal activities from such a position.
Also it should be ensured that for a person to stand for elections he or she
should possess the nessesary credentials and qualifications.Merely understanding
the pulse of the people is not enough to be a politician but he should also be
able to govern effeciently and uphold the dignity of the position that he
occupies. The present state of lawlessness prevalent in many states of India
stems from this and were this to continue the future of the contry would be
really bleak.
